BEAST OF RIOT

BOUNDED BY METAL
"Beast Of Riot" is finally out, and the guys prove their worth way beyond doubt from the very beginning with the intense speedy opening instrumental "Dawn Of Death And Destruction", which within its 1.5-min will warm you up big time for the ensuing "massacre". The latter starts with the ultra-speedster "Riotor" which well deservedly carries the band name blast-beating in a furious black-ish manner at some stage. "Sextasy" may literally throw you into ecstasy (I'm not very sure about the sex part) being another fine speed/thrasher leading the way to some more "sex" on "Fucking Metal", a more relaxed heavier piece of the fast type. "Poser Hunt" is in the same vein, and just when one wonders whether there will be any break from the intense thrashing/speeding, comes "Poser Hunt" to bring forward slower, almost epic-sounding, moments without, of course, forgetting about the good old speed at the end. From then on very little mercy is shown the songs developing in a relentless speedy way making this cool effort one of the fastest offerings of 2010, and not only.

MUSIKUNIVERSE.net

MORBID TALES
RIOTOR-Fucking Metal Demo cd 2008, Self-released
Damn, what an improvement since the first demo! RIOTOR plays drunken technical death/thrash, coming straight from the pits of hades. This
20-minutes demo pro-cd contains 6 raging tracks, singing about sex,
drugs and over all metal clichés (wich is a fun thing, hehe). My favourite song on this is most definitely"Internal Burning" for its intense death/thrashing straight forwardness!! This full color job features a funny painted cover by the bands's singer Ismarevil),
including what seems to be his ultimate...fantasies... hahaha! It looks it's located in Montreal's red light district. Ok, enough about the artwork... Stop reading this right now and send 10$ PPD to RIOTOR 80/302 Hermine Quebec,QC G1K 8L9 CANADA. Wimps and posers retain yourselves as the RIOTOR guys can recognize your odours... They'll send you a bomb instead of the cd!! AAHAHAHA!

EVIL'S BEST
After releasing the great debut demo last year, it didn't take these Canadian Thrashers so long to supply another, in my opinion, even a better dose of FUCKING THRASH METAL WITH BALLS! So what he have here is 6 hymns of intense Thrash, that last for 22 minutes, packed in a great Pro-CD release, which is a rare case nowadays, when many young bands just "produce" CD-R's or D.I.Y. tapes in the best case. The highlight for me is the killer production, which doesn't harm the natural rawness, without which this music would sound lame, yet is really clear and sharp, so you can hear every note and riff simply crystal clear. But what makes this demo a total perfection is the fact that the vokillz here are performed way better than in the 1st demo, while in the debut, they sounded like if the singer was talking for himself. This time you can hear a great Thrashy voice, think Petrozza meets Witchhammer from Witchtrap, but rawer! As for the rest of the band members, expect flawless stuff as well. The drumming is fast and intense and definitely not just punk beats but more interesting, though I don't understand that much in drums. The guitar work is even better than in Death and Destruction in my opinion, supplying a great dose of fast flesh ripping riffs and solos. Sacrifice, Razor and Slaughter can be proud of their heirs, hehe! And what's even more interesting, you can actually hear the bass lines, and in some songs there are parts performed by the bass exclusively and are really well done. The lyrics deal with the regular topics, such as anti-social stuff (Riotor) war (Nuclear Solution) and fucking METAL!... What else could you expect? Let's say Kreator, Nuclear Assault and Manowar wrote better and more interesting ones in the past, but they're ok for what they are. In short if the first demo was Endless Pain then this is Pleasure to Kill, and it's only the beginning! There's a real progress that can be heard and unlike the majority of nowadays cheap retro Thrash bands this demo really has heart and sounds fresh and not recycled. I hope that Riotor will bring more stuff in this vein in the future and find a good label to release a full length; they deserve it way more than many others. Hurry up and get your copy for 10$ PPD worldwide, as long as they're available, since only 500 copies were pressed! 10 / 10

Riotor: ''Fucking Metal'' Demo 2008 CD
Yeah, such a concrete title let expect some concrete music and fortunately we're not disapponted by listening to the second demo slaughter of those Canadian speed lords. The title ''Fucking Metal'' is a fucking promise that they definitely keep on the whole playing time and it's again good to see that we have here a band that combines their musical skills with metallic feeling that leads to a tasty and offensive thrashing Metal orgy. Like on their previous demo, fast and neckbreaking riffs cut me to the quick and together with angry rhythms, the six steely bullets frazzled my fucking flesh. Also I notice some developments compared to their last demo and so the band made the effort to bring their songwriting to perfection. That means that they brought more variety in their songs achieved with sometimes almost atmospheric introductions like in the opener, for example, that even reminds me a bit on Desaster musically. Also they removed the distortion from the vocals which helpes them to sound better and melted with the music. But here is exactly the only problem of the band, namely the vocals.... You know, bands like Slayer, Kreator, Celtic Frost or Destruction have shown how important distinctive vocalists are for a band and their music. Sadly Riotor's vocalist has not any kind of recognition value.... I don't know... Sometimes he sounds too weak and isn't able to add additional power to the compositions.... That's maybe criticism on highest level but a band like Riotor deserves to be treated this way, I think and I'm sure their next release will bring improvements in this matter. But in the end, I can advise every Thrasher out there to send threatening letter to those Canadian maniacs and order this piece of thrashing insanity.

METAL CRYPT
Holy shit. From the get-go, Fucking Metal smashes you in the face and then kicks you and tramples you until the very last second. Hailing from Quebec City, Riotor play fucking Thrash Metal, bitches. Alright, I can hear people whine "oh, another Thrash band... waaah!" Well, Riotor belong to a different brand of Thrash than the current "revival" that the aforementioned whiny sluts bitch about on the Intardnet. This is not your "party Thrash" or "clean Thrash" from the likes of Municipal Waste, Bonded By Blood, Evile or Fueled by Fire (nothing wrong with these, but stay with me.) Riotor join the select club of more "violent", "brutal" and in-your-face Thrash - think Desaster, Destroyer 666, early Kreator, early Destruction, Vomitor, Vulcano... You know, the take-no-prisoner kind. Fucking Metal may be short (albeit a good length for a demo), but it does a lot of aural damage in its 22 minute lifespan. Aggressive, harsh vocals (can't help but think of early Desaster as a comparison) that make you think that the other band members are beating up the vocalist with their instruments to make him sound this pissed off. The screams are agonizing, yet sound like the guy's in full attack mode. Incidentally the music follows course, with guitar and drum work that's half way between the raw chaos of Slaughter (if you're thinking of the glam band, leave now you poser worm) and the slightly more disciplined musicianship of the aforementioned bands. Don't expect any nice melodies, or some mid-paced stuff here - all the songs are speedy as fuck (OK, there are a few very short passages, but you never recover long enough to actually slow down the headbanging before the onslaught kicks in again) and heavy as fuck and will leave you with your head spinning. I've been listening to this slab of "I've just been run over by a train" metal for a few weeks now and still can't find the right words to do it justice - this stuff needs to be heard, and make sure you turn that fucker up to 11. Hopefully a sign of things to come from this young band. The world needs a full-length from these guys.

METAL RULES
Riotor's black-sters thrash their hearts out in a pretty decent way, playing almost similar style as Destroyer 666, Desaster, Merciless, Gospel of the Horns and such. Their stuff has a very straight-forward, raw, thrashy no-bullshit-no-fucking-gimmicks approach, which has been spiced with relatively harsh, nearly black metal sounding vocals of Ismarevil. This is thoroughly good, headbang-able stuff, which has been done and heard probably thousands of times before, but it doesn't stop you liking this stuff, however. The guys push forward and over the barricades like an angry colony of 12-ton tanks, ready to blow you away - and leaving all of us gasping for air. No doubts, Riotor has a lot of attitude and determination to sound like a frantic and blackish thrash band that just wants to have a little bit of fun and blast out lotsa noise around territories from their wrecking machine. With the FUCKING METAL demo, they have already proved it louder than the doctor has ordered. Good stuff here nevertheless, albeit not totally mind-blowing by any means.

PYRENEAN METAL (France)

RIOTOR-Death And Destruction (Demo 2007)

Years, I tell you! Years it has been since I have heard anything of worth, let alone any serious Thrash Metal barbarity rip from the earth out of Quebec, Canada. 'Death And Destruction ', RIOTOR's debut demo is one of the most promising, most proficient demo / CD recordings that I have had the pleasure to hear and to own! Any of you that read my reviews here in any regularity know that when I normally bitch about a new band who will waste my time by sending out a weak, unforgiving CDR of pure grade shit – this demo here is the exact audio benchmark equivalent that I hold those of inferiority up to and to judge against. A sonic barrier if you will, to what I get continually bombarded with on a daily basis, a shield of iron to deflect arrows of redundancy that those unworthy to be heralded perpetually make assault with upon these ears. Featuring six professional, semi-technical Speed / Thrash anthems, that I honestly believe not only will get them instantaneous recognition worldwide yet also in the same breath, it will only be a matter of time until you all are signed and most likely I'd wager to Heavy Artillery Records from New York! For fans of AVENGER OF BLOOD or Germany's DESASTER, you can't go wrong with these Canadian Speed merchants! Live for Steel – Die for Steel!

'I was eagerly awaiting this 6 track demo from Canadian thrashers Riotor after sampling a few tracks online, and I wasn't disappointed when I received the package. Imagine Nocturnal Graves blended with old Sepultura and you wouldn't be too far off the mark for describing Riotor's extreme thrash sound. Maybe chuck a bit of Destruction in there. Playing for just over 21 minutes, Riotor's 'Death and Destruction' demo is intense from start to finish- a real head banging treat. Musically these guys are professional and capable, flying between riffs and beats with relative ease and confidence. And don't let the 'demo' title fool you: in terms of length and production, this plays far more like a well established bands ep. My only complaint for this band would be that the vocal production and stye needed a bit more attention, because on 'Death and Destruction' they are a bit murky and monotonous. On the whole this release is brutal, devastating and energetic: what more can you ask from a new thrash squad? Well worth checking out, get in contact with them for a copy.

RIOTOR-'DEATH AND DESTRUCTION' DEMO 2007
RIOTOR is a deady Canadian speed metal band that defintally crushes all that are weak and they will also violently decimate all that is condemmed to be a poser!! Six nun-raping assults that all tore my head clear off and left a bloody mess on my floor! Picture DESTRUCTION,early SEPULTURA, WITCHES HAMMER and early SACRIFICE for good measure. RIOTOR have a definate old styled feeling to them which will defintally grow onto true underground maniax worlwide faster then a virgin getting fucked in her first porno! Two of RIOTOR's members played in Quebec's TRAUMATISM (R.I.P. death/grind lunatics with two memorable full length assults under their bullet belts), so i'm convinced there will be much more to be heard from RIOTOR in the future as these guys are the real deal! Nice early black metal styled vokills really make this thrash unit not to be missed! All fans of REAL underground metal get in touch for your copy or forever deem yourself a poser!

Thrash Till Death – Underground Lives !!!

It is always a pleasure when I receive something from my homeland of Canada. I actually had not really even heard of Riotor before now. Riotor hail from the province of Quebec and I think we all know many of the classic bands that this area has produced (Voivod, Yog Sothots, Soothsayer and tons more!). This is a really interesting release. They play classic thrash metal without doubt and do a fine job. The vocals really grabbed me. Not really your usual ones and they seem to have a tiny bit of death metal influence but still well rooted in the classic thrash vocals. At times the vocals remind me to the vocal performance on “Thirteen Frightened Souls” great ep by Deceased. I love it. Apparently Riotor met and set the original foundation for this band at a Razor concert back in 2005. Hell yeah! Musically this brand of thrashing just feels so old school Canadian to me. At times I am getting a vibe similar to the classic Sacrifice album “Soldiers Of Misfortune”. You can hear bits of other Canadian legends like Slaughter or Aggression in there too. They love to thrash it out and make you head bang but there is more to it than that. They definitely possess a sort of depth or dynamic that tends to make good thrash bands memorable. There is an atmosphere and mood that sets the tone that once they have you hooked in that is when they go for the kill and make your neck sore if you know what I mean?! Because the true order of the day is speed and we all know that it kills. The playing on here is fantastic and I love the sound they got it is so dirty yet you can hear everything in their performance (from all members). Not to leave a single stone unturned you also get hit with the odd short but just smoking guitar solo that really fits in well with the music and is not forced. Well the 6 songs on here really fucking kicked my ass! I am so happy the band sent this to me. I am hooked. They have not rested one second either as I just checked online and they have recently released another new demo by the title “Fucking Metal” so contact them right now and get them both!! – Dale

Riotor – Death and Destruction
Riotor comes from Canada from the city of Quebec and they are totally dedicated to the underground. They play Old School Thras Metal in the purest form it can be but you can hear also a influence from the Old School Death Metal. It's recorded in 2007 from there fucking selves like they said. There are 6 songs of real and pure Old School Metal and when you play this CD you won't stop to headbang till the end, but at the end you will meet the song 'Poser Hunt'. That's why this is not for all posers on the Metal scene but this is just for real dedicated Metalheads supporters of the underground. Order this album and proof that you support the underground Metal scene.

Riotor - Death and Destruction (Cdr)
A new thrashing assault hailing from Cänada. On their debut demo cdr these 5 guys are totally selling their souls to ancient thrash with some death metal sparkles, yet not too many. Especially the vocalist adds a rawer element to their sound, as he crosses the border between thrash and death but when I say death I mean the 80ies death metal of course. No grunting/growling here. Song titles are in the typical tradition and also the band name carries the cliche suffix -or. The inlay comes with underground messages that show they're totally devoted to the real metal feeling. The cover shows a quite abstract devil/demon drawing that is pretty chaotic. Thanx to Gab for the copy!

''Kill The Posers – Fuck The Punk – Destroy Rappers – Piss On Funk – Kill The Hippies and all Djs - Metal Wins His Final Race'', that's my favourite lyric part of their song ''Poser Hunt'' which is only one of six ripping Death Thrash assaults of those Canadian speed merchants! It's fast, insane and devastating material with an overdose of aggression, strong riffs and intrique drumming...! Although they attach importance to mainly fast and hellish song creations, we can also listen to some nice tunes and guitar solo parts here and there! And that seems to be their biggest strength to play intense Thrash riffs without creating some kind of boring standard crap like more and more new formed bands. That means neckbraking combinations of breaks, tempo changes and catchy riffing without beeing too ornated or lacking of heavyness. The only thing which could be better are the vocals, or better said, the way they are integrated in the music. They sound a bit far away from music and it would be fucking great if they would't be that distorted...! But all in one we get here a pretty strong first demo of a band that certainly will earn some respect in the future if they keep their way, they begun with this cool piece! DEATH AND DESTRUCTION
2007 SELF RELEASE
While virtually all of the reborn US thrash scene is in pursuit of the Bay Area sound, Canada's RIOTOR have gone their own way and gone after the old Canadian sound instead. If SACRIFICE had possessed more of a death metal sound (and they weren't all that far off), RIOTOR might be what they may have sounded like. This is not slick, well-produced thrash metal for the masses. This is the good old dirty sound that the real fans craved and searched for. All those shit bands you have to go through to find that one killer band? This is the killer band! Death and Destruction contains material that is more than good enough for RIOTOR to get signed. If they're not, then their next demo should correct that oversight!!

RIOTOR (Can) 'Death And Destruction' Demo-CD. 6 tracks, 21 min. Auto Prod.
It seems that 80's Thrash Metal is now strongly coming back : the Bay Area scene offers excellent new combos and their Northern mates from Canada are also striking back. Here we've a pretty young band called Riotor that is full of energy and Thrashing attitude. The 6 tracks from this demo are pounding Metal with a strong emphasis on the speed tempos and straight in the head riffs. The guitar headbanging riffs are perfectly melted with bulldozer-like drumming. Interludes such as in 'Ode To Death' really remind early Kreator's work. Even though that Riotor is linked with the 80's Thrash scene, the vocals stand against the conventional ones. Here they're more early Death Metal like than high pitch screams you could find in 80's combos. A very convincing debut with great old school solos such as in 'Void Of Emptiness'. Obviously the demo ends with a Kreator's like kind of tribute through 'Poser Hunt', a title that sounds more like being a Piledriver track than anything else !

Very well executed intense fast-paced thrash along the lines of Rigor Mortis; the singer is not far from the gruff delivery of Bruce Corbitt, but this one strains himself to sound evil. The music takes some more stylish dimensions from time to time, although never sacrifices the speedy riffage. Seldom does the sound gets proto-death-ish ('Ode to Death'), but such sheer speed approach requires some 'rules broken'. On the other hand, the short blistering 'Void of Emptyness' is vintage old school speed metal, in the spirit of early Helloween, so there is balance and again, a lot of speed. 'Despiter' comes thrashing with some technical implements, and things get pretty much to the top, not without the help of the closing 'Poser Hunt', which is heads-down speed/thrash at its best, recalling also the Angel Dust debut. There should be no problem for the band to find a label interested in hearing something more from them: there is a lot of potential here...

Riotor – Death and Destruction (Demo, Self Released Pro-CD-R, 2007)
Canadian Thrash bands always had some great stuff to suggest! Albums made by bands like Piledriver, Infernal Majesty, Sacrifice, Slaughter and of corpse Razor are ones of the most classic and important in the genre and influenced many bands during the years. So no wonder that like in Germany and Brazil, it's possible to find a young Thrash band that can teach many other bands how to play real thrash as well! This is what happens when old people create music they grew up listening to, together with younger maniaks, who can't be responsible for the fact that they were born later (like in Apokalyptic Raids). ....
The result is fast, aggressive and not compromising whatsoever Thrash! Those who look for riffs, written in the best traditions of this genre and killer solos, but still sound refreshing and not recycled, shouldn't think twice before ordering this demo!.... The 5 songs that this demo suggests won't let the listener rest for a moment! This is Thrash for Thrashers and not for posers! By the way, talking about posers, the song Poser Hunt is another anthem you should recall next time you see an emo, haha!.... The only thing I don't really like here is how the vokillz sound, since it sounds like the vokiller sings to himself. If his voice was a bit higher, maybe it would solve this problem. But after listening to this demo a few times, you can actually get used to it, because passing on such great riffs/solos just because of the vokillz is an unforgivable mistake! I'd also like to mention that the ending of the last song (Poser Hunt) is the sound of the last spins of a vinyl record. Great idea! 9 / 10 ....
